Leo Margarit
Born in the south of France in 1981 in a family of musicians, Léo started to play the drums at the early age of 3. After many years of practicing, he obtained many degrees in different French conservatories, like classical percussions, ear training, music chamber, drums, jazz…
This education allowed him to experiment and try every kind of music, from classical to extreme metal, through jazz, and afro Cuban music for instance, and play a lot of gigs all over Europe.
In late 2007, after he has applied through the internet, Léo was chosen to be the new drummer of Swedish progressive rock/metal giants Pain of Salvation, among a choice of 250 applicants from the whole world… Since January 2008 he finally moved to Sweden, and has been recording multiple albums with Pain of Salvation, and has contributed to different projects, such as Samuel Arkan’s EPYSODE (Virus 4) or Ruud Jolie’s solo album “For All We Know” (Within Temptation)
He has also been touring through Europe as main act several times, and Australia, as DreamTheater’s opening act, since Mike Portnoy is a big fan of Pain of Salvation! Léo is endorsed by Varus drums, Paiste cymbals, ProMark sticks and Evans drumheads.
