The Team Behind Varus Drums
We build your dreams
Behind every Varus drum is a team that listens, designs, builds and inspects every detail. From our workshop in Spain, we work with you to turn an idea into an
instrument made around you.
An Idea Born to Break Limits
Varus Drums was founded by Thomas Mantovani in 2013 with a simple idea: to build drums capable of breaking limits. The project grew in Spain as a boutique drum company, with an approach rooted in handcraftsmanship, custom design and direct communication with the drummer.
More than a decade later, that spirit remains unchanged. Every project is treated individually, and every decision is made around the sound, playing style and identity of the musician who will play the instrument.

Thomas Mantovani, Founder and Driving Force Behind Varus Drums
Thomas combines creative vision, technical knowledge and a constant focus on detail.
His work begins by listening to the drummer: the sound they want, how they play, where
the kit will be used and the visual presence they want to create.
That information guides decisions about sizes, configuration, woods and finish. Thomas and the team stay directly involved throughout the project, carrying the original idea from the first conversation through the final inspection.
A Small Team and a Direct Relationship
Working as a boutique drum company allows us to keep communication personal throughout the entire project. You do not need to arrive with every specification finalized. Tell us about your references, needs and approximate budget, and we will help turn them into a balanced configuration.
Speaking directly with the people who know the instrument makes decisions easier and ensures that every detail has a purpose, both sonically and visually.
How We Work

We Build Instruments and Relationships
We work with drummers, artists, collectors and stores around the world while following the same philosophy: no mass production, no generic solutions and no two iinstruments exactly alike.
Varus Drums is for musicians who want their drum kit to represent them, from the first hit to the final detail.
Have an idea for your next drum kit?
Tell us about the sound, sizes and finish you are looking for.
We will help you define the project.
